| There are 52 neighborhoods in Cincinnati, and Municipal Court Judge Tyrone Yates is proud to call Kennedy Heights his home. “It’s an ideal community, diverse in every way,” said Judge Yates, one of our newer residents. He has been impressed with “how neighbors support each other, watch out for each other, and care for the community.”
Judge Yates graduated from Withrow High School in 1972, the University of Cincinnati in 1978 and got his law degree from Toledo University.
As a member of the Ohio General Assembly, City Council and mow working in the Hamilton County Courthouse, Judge Yates has a unique perspective on Cincinnati. “It’s an exciting city with a relatively small population that is home to some major assets: the Reds, Bengals, Fortune 500 companies, Cincinnati Symphony, Ballet, and many professional dance and theater groups.” At the same time, he feels there are challenges the city and its citizens face including poverty and affordable, quality housing. Judge Yates is a firm believer that enhanced educational opportunities and high quality schools will draw new residents and younger families to all fifty-two neighborhoods.
The level of civic participation he has observed in Kennedy Heights around the Arts Center has impressed him. During his tenure in the Ohio General Assembly, Judge Yates was a strong supporter of the Ohio Arts Council and the Artist in Residence Program. He believes in the power of the arts to enhance and transform society.
